Purpose of Job: The well-being, attendance and monitoring of progress of all students within a Year Group
Key Areas and Accountabilities
- To work with the teachers and parents of students to ensure and promote a culture of success within their year group
- To plan and deliver effective intervention programmes to meet the specific needs of individuals or groups of students
- To support the Access and Inclusion Team during lessons, break and lunchtimes
- Provide supervision for our students during unstructured times to ensure a calm and safe atmosphere
- Work with the Head of Year to successfully oversee a group of form tutors
- To act as first responder when investigating incidents of unacceptable behaviour
- Work with the school\’s attendance and safeguarding team to ensure high levels of attendance in a specific year group
- Induct new students in accordance with the school\’s new starter procedure
- Attend regular safeguarding meetings both with school staff and wider professionals
- To maintain accurate records and update the school information management system with accurate information regarding behaviour and safeguarding.
- Communicate set work to students and offer help and guidance as required
- Support student management strategies and policies of the school and undertake additional duties (when no student has been referred) eg – on call, in-class behaviour support, student mentoring
- Liaise with staff (especially teachers, pastoral support staff, school nurses, IT technicians, senior mental health leads and special educational needs coordinators (SENCO), and senior mental health leads) on matters of safety, safeguarding, and welfare (including online and digital safety, web filtering and monitoring) and when deciding whether to make a referral by liaising with relevant agencies so that children\’s needs are considered holistically.
