Our client, a global academic publisher is looking for an experienced Product Manager to lead the strategy, development, and enhancement of the Submission & Peer Review platform. This is a unique opportunity to work within a collaborative environment, helping researchers and institutions streamline the publishing process.

Product Manager: Key responsibilities
Lead the definition and delivery of the Submission & Peer Review product roadmap & backlog
Manage the prioritisation, definition and delivery of product enhancement projects, collaborating with relevant stakeholders, UX & design teams, technology & the technology vendor for the product(s), along with carrying out user testing, so as to meet the business goals and KPIs set out for the product(s)
Demonstrate deep domain knowledge of your product area and how to solve its problems. Talk expertly of competitor products and create modern, simpler, and better solutions. Talk expertly about your core personas & their user journeys
Explore new enhancement concepts, effectively drawing on user research and web analytics as well as collaboration with UX Designers to test, validate and evolve
Lead the creation of user stories for enhancement projects
Responsible for guiding the development team to prioritise and effectively execute the technology solution
Lead project teams and meetings, driving discussions and decision making
Develop a thorough understanding of the product(s), who are using them and how by analysing product usage data and conducting user research. Set, monitor and analyse KPIs for all enhancement projects
Earn trust, collaborate with key team members from across the business working on the day-to-day running of the product(s) to improve efficiencies and solve product-related issues
Communicate effectively with internal teams and external audiences using clear, non-technical language to promote product enhancements, ensure understanding, and address any issues or bugs that may impact product use
Engage regularly with product customers and users to gain a deep understanding of their needs, preferences, and perspectives, ensuring their viewpoints are effectively represented
Regularly report on your progress toward the product vision, aligning with your team and connecting your work to the product\’s long-term goals. Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to enhance the product\’s reputation
Prioritise diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) by incorporating diverse perspectives, adhering to accessibility principles, and fostering inclusive behaviours in your collaboration with colleagues
Adopt a Lean Mindset by continuously refining work processes to maximise customer value and improve efficiency

- An experienced product manager with excellent communication & relationship management skills
- Confident working with multiple stakeholders across the business, including senior management to drive decision making & delivery
- Experienced in the Journals publishing landscape, particularly submission & peer review
- Data-driven, market & user focused with the ability to get things done at pace, quickly delivering value to customers
- Thrive in a collaborative environment where you will be adept at problem-solving and offering a solutions-focused approach to your work
- Comfortable reaching out and gaining an empathy with our market, building a strong knowledge of the key users and customers, acting as an advocate for their needs and views.
