We are looking for a Technical Operator to work as part of our team to provide excellent technical support to BBC Sport, BBC Music and Sports Stories operations. To employ proactive thinking and attention to detail to guarantee smooth running of the Sport Production System and to enjoy working on the many and varied programmes and outputs across the Sport operation.
Main Duties Overview
- Perform daily technical tasks proactively and to a high standard, with full checking back and reporting of work done
- Troubleshoot technical SPS issues
- Provide technical workflow advice and support to BBC staff
- Ingest
- Routing and checking ingest sources and bookings for EVS Ingest
- Using EVS IPDirector to schedule ingests
- Using EVS IPDirector to manage ingests and media assets
- File based and camera card ingest using Adobe Premiere Pro and Content Agent systems
- QC of content before and after ingest to Adobe Premiere edit systems
- File downloads and transfers
- Media backup
- Organisation, set up and recording of Zoom call requests
- FTA
- QC of finished content
- Media Management
- Playout
- LSM operation
- Communication with production and all technical areas of SPS operations as and when required
- Training
- Deliver training to new members of the Timeline Tech Op Team
- Workflow
- Spot and flag workflow gaps and areas for potential improvement with Ingest Leads
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- A basic understanding of general PCA operations and workflows
- Efficient communication and escalation of operational technical issues to the appropriate parties
- Good and clear communication with third parties delivering into/receiving from BBC Sport
- Prompt communication of any operational issues with production contacts and Ingest Leads
- Effective communication with all parts of the SPS operation with regards daily operational work
Working Hours
- 4x 10 hour days per week. (Days may be shifted, within any one-month period, to be 3 days in one week and 5 in another)
- An average of two weekends in every four
- Early, late and overnight shifts as required
- Additional hours as and when appropriate
- Work on-site as required
- Reasonable expectation to work Christmas and New Year period as a fair share within the team
