We are looking for a proactive, highly focused and organised individual to join our team as a Rigger. Based at our Reading Outside Broadcast base, the role will involve travel throughout the UK and internationally. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving Timeline vehicles, including HGV Outside Broadcast trucks, as well as rigging and de-rigging cables and equipment across Timeline’s Outside Broadcast operations.

Main Duties

  • Drive Timeline vehicles, including HGV trucks carrying equipment and assets required for broadcast productions.
  • Rig and de-rig cables and equipment at Outside Broadcast sites across the UK and internationally, working as part of the wider rigging team.
  • Support technical and engineering teams on events where required.
  • Assist with the preparation, organisation and loading of cable and equipment onto tender vehicles, including supporting and directing warehouse staff.
  • Maintain the garage, warehouse and associated operational areas to a high standard.
  • Assist with job planning and crewing, while supporting other operational and ad-hoc requirements as required.
  • Respond effectively to changing production requirements and maintain a professional approach when working with clients, production teams and colleagues.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Full, clean HGV Class 1 licence
  • Proven experience in TV Outside Broadcast rigging and Rigger/Driver operations across a range of productions and event sizes.
  • Thorough knowledge of Outside Broadcast cabling, rigging practices and equipment requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of HGV operations, including loading, weight restrictions, transportation requirements, routine maintenance and relevant road transport legislation.
  • Good working knowledge of Electricity at Work and Working at Height requirements, with a strong commitment to safe working practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with Timeline colleagues, production teams and clients while representing Timeline professionally.
  • A proactive, self-motivated and flexible approach, with a positive ‘can-do’ attitude and the ability to adapt to changing requirements and last-minute operational demands.
  • Ability to work effectively in a physically demanding environment, including regular loading, lifting and manual handling.
  • Good organisational and planning skills, with the ability to assist with crewing and preparation for upcoming jobs.
  • Moderate level of computer literacy and confidence using relevant company systems.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across the UK and internationally, work irregular hours and provide flexibility where operational requirements require additional availability.

This is a shift-based role involving unsociable hours and weekend work.
