Trainee Traffic Maintenance Engineer – Covering the Northeast region.

The successful Trainee Traffic Maintenance Engineer will join a talented team of Traffic Signals specialists. As a Trainee Traffic Maintenance Engineer, you will work closely with one of our experienced Traffic Engineers to troubleshoot, fix, maintain, and test a range of Traffic Signals / Traffic Lights and electrical equipment that is associated with this within the Northeast region. There is a requirement to be on call every 1 in 4 weeks as well as working nights when the contract requires.

What you’ll do:

  • Learn to carry out maintenance of traffic signals and associated equipment and commissioning of traffic signal equipment.
  • Ensure test equipment, PPE and Vehicle are all compliant with up-to-date certification as required.
  • Ensure works are completed in accordance with site specifications.
  • Complete maintenance in line with agreed schedules and SLA’s under supervision.
  • Carry out on site risk assessments and follow method statements.
  • Attend Team brief / Toolbox talks as required.
  • Learn to carry out Site Acceptance Tests with Clients (basic sites).

Who you are:

You will naturally have an interest in troubleshooting, fixing, testing and maintaining Electrical equipment, and already have some exposure to anything telecoms or networks associated – whether that’s working with outdoor lighting, CCTV’s, controllers, detection boxes, telecommunications / networks, radio equipment etc, or you’ve had some experience via a College related course or Diploma.

Key Requirements:

  • Motivation and willingness to learn on the job and via online learning.
  • Previous experience of networks and telecoms, maintenance, fixing or installing, or a holder of an Electrical course / diploma or similar.
  • Ability to problem solve and provide ideas – ultimately the job requires you to think outside the box, and work through “fault finding instructions”.
  • Full UK Driving Licence holder.
  • Able to and willing to undertake a Drugs & Alcohol test to ensure compliance.
