Reporting to the Commercial Lead, the Commercial Manager will work closely with the Legal and Commercial team(s), as well as the wider telent Project team to help provide commercial support and expertise to ensure telent is exercising its obligations fully in line with the contractual requirements across our Asset Management function. This is a hybrid working role, with a requirement to be in our Warwick HQ 1 day per week.
What you’ll do:
- Lead the development and delivery of commercial and sourcing strategies aligned to business objectives, ensuring value optimisation and risk mitigation.
- Conduct robust pre-procurement market analysis to inform strategic decision-making and sourcing approaches.
- Provide expert commercial input into project planning, business cases, and governance processes to support successful approvals and delivery.
- Own supplier relationship management and contract administration, ensuring high performance across the full contract lifecycle.
- Ensure full compliance with relevant legislation, internal governance, and contractual obligations on behalf of clients and stakeholders.
- Provide authoritative commercial advice to business teams, including the evaluation of change requests and associated cost and contractual impacts.
- Oversee financial and commercial controls, including invoicing, cost validation, forecasting, year-end processes, and monthly reporting to clients.
- Lead, develop, and performance-manage a commercial team, setting clear direction, objectives, and driving a high-performance culture.
Who you are:
You are a commercially driven professional with proven experience managing contracts, costs, and commercial risk in complex project environments, ideally within the Telecoms / Utilities / Transport or Civil Engineering industries.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience in a commercial management role within a relevant industry.
- Strong knowledge of contract management, ideally including NEC and/or other standard form contracts.
- Experience managing commercial risk, cost control, forecasting, and margin improvement.
- Strong negotiation skills with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Commercial awareness with the ability to identify opportunities for value creation and cost efficiency.
- Excellent analytical and financial acumen, including reporting and data-driven decision making.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines.
- High level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail.
