Reporting to the Senior Bid Manager, the Highways Estimator will work on a broad cross section of tenders across the highways sector, including traffic signals projects and working on some of the most prestigious projects on motorway schemes across the UK.
This is a hybrid working role, with a requirement to be in our Warwick HQ 1-2 days per week, as well as ad hoc travel to other locations on occasion.
- What you’ll do
- Pricing of Traffic Signals Scheme works
- Research materials, equipment, transport and labour costs including producing risk and opportunity registers.
- Understand and accurately capture prelims, storage, survey, mobilisation and demobilisation requirements and associated costs to deliver technology schemes on highways
- Provide technical support to the Bid Managers for preparing tenders to secure projects
- Liaise with internal operational and procurement teams to determine the most cost efficient delivery model that will lead to improve on-site productivity, reduce waste and provide the most competitive tender price
- Will have direct contact with the client i. e.
Quantity Surveyors to pull together pricing information for the installation service tenders and respond to any technical query or questions
- Develop our technical offerings and capabilities for Motorway and Roads communications and technology solutions
Who you are
You are a motivated and detail-focused Estimator with experience in highways and infrastructure.
You’ll have strong analytical and organisational skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively to produce accurate estimates and support successful project delivery.
- Key Requirements
- Experience of working in a similar estimating role working on technology or communication projects in a Highways focussed business is essential
- Ability to cost from 1st principles technology maintenance, installation & commissioning services for highways projects including interpretation of technical and communication drawings, cabling schematic diagrams or specifications and validation of Bills of Quantities etc.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, and in particular strong Excel skills
- Good understanding of NEC contract models, and costing methodologies
- Experience of capturing, reviewing and reflecting risk as part of opportunity modelling.
- Good understanding and knowledge of Highways sector specifications and pricing Schedules including 1500 series works (Motorway Communications) is desirable
