About the Role
Telent is seeking a SCIDA Site Engineer to support the assurance, compliance and governance of ICT installations across RAF and MOD environments. This role sits within the SCIDA (Site Coordinating Installation Design Authority) function - a mandated MOD assurance role responsible for ensuring that ICT systems are designed, installed and maintained in line with Defence policy, engineering standards and security requirements. We are open to experienced SCIDA engineers as well as defence, telecoms or regulated-sector engineers who have worked in compliance-led or assurance environments and are ready to step into a formal SCIDA role with full training and support.
What You'll Be Doing
- ICT Assurance SCIDA Service Delivery
- Act as the engineering and compliance focal point for allocated RAF / MOD sites
- Deliver SCIDA services in line with JSP 453, Air SCIDA Engineering Instructions and related Defence standards
- Review designs, installations and Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) to identify risks and non-compliance
- Conduct site inspections, post-installation assurance and audits
- Provide clear technical guidance and briefings to RAF personnel, contractors and project teams
- Attend siting boards, surveys and MOD / RAF meetings as required
Engineering Compliance Support
- Support and, where appropriate, chair ECR and engineering review meetings
- Advise Site Executives, OC Engineers and other stakeholders on engineering compliance
- Contribute to SCIDA documentation, Engineering Instructions and continuous improvement activity
- Support estate-wide assessments and reporting as required
This is an independent, field-based role with a high level of autonomy and responsibility, operating within live Defence environments.

- Ex-RAF or Armed Forces engineers involved in ICT, CIS, infrastructure or compliance roles
- Telecoms, network or infrastructure engineers from highly regulated environments (Defence, CNI, utilities, rail, nuclear, aviation)
- ICT assurance, compliance or audit engineers used to working to formal standards and governance

Key Skills Experience
Essential (must have or be able to demonstrate):
- Experience working in regulated or compliance-led engineering environments
- Strong understanding of engineering standards, inspections, assurance or governance
- Ability to work independently across multiple sites
- Confident stakeholder communication, including at senior level
- Eligibility to obtain SC Security Clearance (UK National requirement)
Desirable (or trainable):
- SCIDA experience (Air SCIDA or related environments)
- Knowledge of JSP 453, JSP 440, AP 600, DICTIS, JSP 375
- MOD CIS / ICT / ATM exposure
- Cryptographic / TEMPEST awareness
- Experience supporting or reviewing Engineering Change Requests
- SCIDA Foundation training will be provided for candidates with the right transferable experience.
