Telent are now looking for a Trainee Traffic Installation Technician to join a talented team of Traffic Signals / Traffic Lighting specialists in the Carlisle area. Due to growth and demand from our customer(s), we are in a position to grow the Traffic team in this region. This is a "Field based" role - the successful applicant MUST hold a full UK driving license and be prepared to travel across the region and be comfortable working in all weathers.

Trainee Traffic Installation Technician - What you will do:
As a trainee within our Traffic Signals team, a typical day would see you working closely with one of our experienced Traffic Engineers to install, maintain and test a range of Traffic Signals / Traffic Lighting units and all Electrical components and equipment that complement, in and around the Carlisle region. Training will not just be in a classroom; it will be a mixture of 'on the job' learning, desk-based and online learning, which will help you progress towards achieving an NVQ Level 2 in Highways Electrical Installations (led by LANTRA), then the NVQ Level 3, and finally, all Sector based certifications such as ECS and the National Highways Sector Scheme (NHSS) Chapter 8.
Trainee Traffic Installation Technician - Who you are:
You will naturally have an intrigue and interest in field-based Engineering, and ideally already have some exposure to anything Electrical Installations focused - whether that is working with electrical equipment, lighting, controllers, detection boxes etc., or you have had some experience in a College course. If you do not have experience, and you are keen to start a new career, we encourage you to apply.
Trainee Traffic Installation Technician - Key requirements / behaviours:
- Motivation and willingness to learn through on the job and online learning
- Previous experience of Electrical installations or a holder of an Electrical course / diploma or similar
- Ability to problem solve and provide ideas - ultimately the job requires you to think outside the box, and work through "fault finding" instructions and specifications
- Hold a full UK Driving Licence
- Good communication skills and have the ability to use a Tablet / computer literate
- Able and willing to undertake a Drugs & Alcohol test to ensure compliance
