About The Role

We’re looking for a Networking Test Engineering Apprentice to join Telent’s Highways Division, where you will be focused on the National Roads Telecommunications Service (NRTS) programme.

You’ll gain practical experience working on the critical infrastructure which allows for smooth running of the national road system while undertaking the Level 4 Network Engineering Apprenticeship.

This role will require flexibility to meet the customer needs, so it will be a hybrid role with a blend of office based, home working and some site-based activity.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Develop and maintain Test documentation
  • Review requirements and specifications and define Test Cases
  • Testing of new applications and upgrade of existing applications and systems, and reporting of bugs
  • Analyses Test activities and results and reports in a clear and concise manner
  • Provide engineering support to the wider NRTS engineering team as required.

What You’ll Bring

  • GCSEs Grade 4/C or above in Maths and English and a Level 3 qualification in IT or equivalent
  • An understanding and genuine interest of networking, internet protocols and cyber security
  • A flair for solving complex technical issues
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, combined with proven team working and leadership abilities
  • Self-motivation, able to work on your own initiative and under pressure
  • Practical use of Microsoft Office applications
