The Bid Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating bid teams, including subject matter experts, bid writers, and commercial leads to produce compelling written and financial submissions that support Telent in winning projects. They will manage the full bid lifecycle for medium-value opportunities, ensuring alignment with Telent's bid governance procedures. This includes overseeing cost model inputs, organising cost reviews, documenting key decisions, and tracking submission progress to ensure timely reviews. Collaborating closely with Sales, Technical, and Commercial teams to deliver high-quality, successful proposals. The role also involves promoting best practices to continuously improve bid quality, monitoring bid-related costs to maximise return on investment, and supporting customer relationships through meetings and presentations as needed.

What you’ll do:

  • Leading and developing Bid winning strategies in partnership with the opportunity owner & business heads
  • Producing material from Go/No Go stage through to deal review, Bid submission & win / loss reviews
  • Post Bid submission support including preparation of Bid presentations
  • Support the Business Planning Director with workload planning, bid forecasting, cost and win / loss tracking & reporting.
  • Bid and Proposal reviews - won & lost - including recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensure Telent's Bid wiki (Bid library) is updated and maintained with information from Bids you have led
  • Share lessons learnt with the bid teams

Who you are:

The ideal candidate for the Bid Manager role at Telent will be an experienced bid professional with a strong track record of leading and delivering successful multiple small value bids running concurrently, preferably in services or solutions sectors such as telecommunications, defence, or public services. You will possess excellent project management, organisational, and interpersonal skills, and be capable of coordinating multidisciplinary teams to produce high-quality written and financial submissions. The candidate should be APMP qualified (or working towards it), financially astute, and confident in writing and reviewing tender responses. A solid understanding of IT and telecommunications, along with the ability to simplify complex problems and communicate effectively at all levels, is essential. Experience of winning work with TfL (London Underground, Overground, Elizabeth Line, DLR) would be highly advantageous.

Key Requirements:

  • APMP or equivalent qualification (or demonstrable evidence of working towards this).
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • ITT Quality response writing skills.
  • ITT Cost response financial skills.
  • Extensive experience of managing and leading a Bid team (often virtual), driving efficiencies, reviews and continual improvement ultimately leading to an improved Bid / Success conversion rate.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills.
  • Financially astute with ability to create & interpret financial reports and models.
  • A proven ability to write and 'Red Review' answers to tender questions to a winning standard.
