What you’ll do:
- The successful apprentice will experience working with a telecoms design team on major UK-wide Rail Projects.
- Develop a solid understanding of the projects and learn how Rail communication systems are designed, used and developed.
- Learn how to produce detailed design using Design Tools such as Visio and AutoCAD.
- Understand and learn the design process whilst adhering to regulations and governance.
- Gain an understanding of the design lifecycle as well as client requirements.
- Assist the Design Team with the delivery of key design projects and work towards strict deadlines.
- Escalate design issues where necessary and help manage the mitigation of risks, issues and budgets.
- Understand and adhere to the Health & Safety requirements of the UK rail infrastructure.
- Interface with other operational engineer departments.
- Liaise with client project timelines.

The requirements:
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs grades 9 to 4, specifically in Maths, English and Science or an IT related subject (A* to C).
- A-Level or equivalent in Maths or Engineering subject desirable but not essential.
- Must be eligible to work in the UK.
- Must be over the age of 18 by September 2026.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment Drugs and Alcohol test.
Programme Specifics:
- This apprenticeship is typically 36 months in duration.
- Starting salary of £17,500 which will increase throughout the programme.
- The qualification gained will be a Level 3, Rail Engineering Design Technician.
- Predominantly office based at home with frequent visits to our Warwick site and client sites.
- On completion of your apprenticeship, we hope to offer you a full-time position with Telent.
- You will be mentored by colleagues, supervisors, managers and tutors throughout the programme.
