Principal Engineer – Wireless

Reporting into the Head of Focal Engineering, the Principal Engineer will work on a number of exciting Wireless Design and Implementation projects for customers across England in the Education and Government sectors as well as others.
This is a hybrid working role, with a requirement to travel to our customer sites on occasion.
What you’ll do:
Define and drive the technical strategy for the design and implementation of enterprise‑grade wireless network solutions across universities in England, leveraging Cisco and Juniper technologies to deliver secure, scalable, and high‑performance connectivity.
Act as the principal design authority, setting technical direction, standards, and best practices for campus wireless and wired infrastructure, ensuring alignment with university digital transformation objectives.
Develop and review detailed low‑level designs (LLDs), high‑level designs (HLDs), and implementation plans covering wireless coverage modelling, access layer design, security, and QoS.
Serve as the senior technical authority (CCIE Expert) for Cisco and Juniper wireless and network solutions, providing design and implementation leadership across multiple university campuses.
Lead complex technical problem‑solving and escalation activities, applying deep expertise across Cah routing, switching, wireless, and security domains.
Provide architectural oversight and governance, ensuring all designs meet Clemson, security, and performance requirements while adhering to corporate and vendor standards.
Provide expert‑level troubleshooting and optimisation for existing wireless deployments, using advanced diagnostic tools and methodologies.
Support customer engagement and stakeholder communication, translating complex technical solutions into clear, outcome‑focused discussions.
Maintain active CCIE certification (Wireless or Enterprise Infrastructure) and ensure ongoing professional development to sustain expert‑level technical credibility.
Who you are:
You’re a CCIE level Principal Wireless Engineer with deep expertise in Cisco and Juniper technologies, driven by a passion for delivering world‑class wireless connectivity.
Key Requirements:
- Expert‑level knowledge of Cisco and Juniper wireless solutions, including Catalyst, Meraki, Mist, and Enterprise WLAN architectures.
- CCIE‑level certification in Wireless or Enterprise Infrastructure.
- Advanced RF design, site survey, and spectrum analysis skills for large‑scale, high‑density environments.
- Hands‑on experience with network monitoring, optimisation, and troubleshooting tools.
- Familiarity with higher education IT environments and related regulatory requirements is desirable.
- Flexibility to travel to various UK sites when needed.
