Reporting to the Senior Engineer (ICT Lead), the Senior Engineer plays a key role in maintaining the stability, performance, and security of our blue-light emergency services customers' ICT environments. The role is responsible for delivering advanced 3rd line technical support, managing complex infrastructure issues, and contributing to the ongoing improvement of critical ICT systems. This is a hybrid working role with a requirement to be on site at our Liverpool office 2 days per week, as well as travel to various customer sites in the area on an ad-hoc basis.
Responsibilities
- Provide 3rd line ICT support across a range of hardware, applications, networks, and enterprise systems, resolving complex technical issues.
- Develop, maintain, and update technical documentation, including system configurations, network mappings, and operational processes.
- Collaborate with third-party suppliers and service providers to ensure incidents and requests are resolved in line with agreed SLAs and service standards.
- Support infrastructure lifecycle management, including system upgrades, maintenance, and capacity planning to ensure service resilience and performance.
- Operate within ITIL frameworks and best-practice processes, ensuring compliance with organisational policies and service management standards.
- Following an initial period of training and competency assessment, participate in a 24/7 on-call duty rota (approximately 1 in every 4-5 weeks).
You are an experienced ICT professional with strong infrastructure knowledge and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in a fast-paced environment. You take a proactive, service-focused approach, working collaboratively to ensure reliable, secure, and resilient systems that support critical operations.
Key Requirements
- Strong experience with Microsoft Azure and VMware virtualisation technologies.
- Expertise in Windows server administration, and HPE hardware.
- In-depth knowledge of networking, storage, and infrastructure management.
- Expertise in troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues.
- Familiarity with ITIL practices and service management.
- Certifications such as ITIL, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, AWS Solutions Architect, or similar are highly desirable.
- Flexible to travel across the region and participate in a 1-in-4 week on-call rota.
