The predicted salary is between 35000 - 45000 £ per year.
Reporting to the Highways Regional Manager, the Highways Technology Engineer will be a key member of the Area 14 Maintenance Team, responsible for completing all technology maintenance tasks and undertaking reactive and planned maintenance on highways technology equipment covering the A1M, A19 and A66 from York to Berwick, with candidates ideally located in or around York, Leeds or Richmond. This role requires flexibility to work days as well as nights when needed and to be on the on-call rota 1 in 4 weeks. Flexibility to work on other northern contracts and opportunities around the North East and North West (Area 10, 12, 13 and 14).
What you'll do:
- Complete essential maintenance tasks on motorway communications equipment, as per the agreed maintenance schedules.
- Keep your Manager updated with appraising of progress and fault status.
- Complete dynamic risk assessments for work activities and be proactive in managing safety at all times.
- Respond to emergency incidents, to ensure both emergency response times and maintenance obligations are met.
- Must be prepared to sign up to out of hour's callout and to work nights as required by the contract.
- Undertake client and customer liaison, and deal with service partners, supply chain and other stakeholders as directed.
Who you are:
This role would suit someone with previous highways technology maintenance experience or come from an electrical background and use this knowledge to gain an understanding of highways technology equipment including: ANPR, Message Signs, CCTV, MIDAS, Cabinets, Traffic Signals, Weather Stations and Traffic Counting Technologies.
Qualifications:
- Responsible role for all proactive, reactive and planned maintenance within the network area.
- Previous highways technology background to include ANPR, Message Signs, CCTV, MIDAS, Cabinets and Traffic Signals or come from an Electrical background, ideally 18th edition or equivalent.
- Will join the on-call rota to work every 1 in 4 weeks.
- Must be flexible, adaptable and prepared to work days as well as some nights as the contract requires.
- Hold a Full UK Driving Licence.
