A DevOps Engineer is a key support role within the Software department. Working with agile teams, which use SCRUM principles as their foundation, the DevOps Engineer’s primary focus will be supporting the build, release and deploy process for multiple products. They will also be responsible for infrastructure provisioning, maintenance, and decommissioning; system monitoring and alerting, security analysis and reporting and Azure resource management.

You will be responsible for:

  • Collaborate with software development teams, capturing compute resource/networking requirements and setting up environments, where applicable

  • Maintenance of CI/CD pipelines

  • Management/patching of all on premise and PaaS compute resource

  • Management of GIT repositories and maintaining repository policies

  • Release management.

  • Administration of source control systems (GIT) and branching policies

  • Management of the departments virtual machine host resources

  • Advocate for continuous improvement including research and adoption of new DevOps tools.

  • Comply with prevailing Telent values, behaviour and competency requirements associated with the role.

Typical deliverables for the role:

  • Supporting the build, release, and deployment of software applications

  • Collaboration with IT and network infrastructure teams to deliver networking requirements of specific applications.

  • Support the Senior DevOps Engineer with continuous improvement of the DevOps strategy.

  • Expertise in PowerShell and working knowledge of scripting with Dos/Batch/Bash

  • Expertise in general Windows Server maintenance (updates, backups, disk management, scheduled tasks, windows services maintenance)

  • Experience of Azure services (VMs, Entra ID, blob storage)

  • Working knowledge of Git repository management and interest in branching strategies

  • Working knowledge of Azure DevOps Administration/Pipeline creation, integration and maintenance

  • Working knowledge of NPM and NuGet package management/integration

  • Working knowledge of SQL Server Database (maintenance/configuration)

  • Working knowledge of IIS Web Hosting (maintenance/configuration)

  • Experience with VMWare, creation/configuration/management of virtual machines/switches.

  • Experience of cyber security best practices

  • Experience of Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Ansible)

  • Expertise in OS (Windows and Linux)

  • Good understanding of networking

  • Experience with containerisation technologies (Kubernetes/ Azure Kubernetes Service and Docker).

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with test tools (Postman/ Newman, cypress, jest)

  • Experience with Apple Developer portal/Android play store management

  • Experience of Apache Configuration

  • Interest in MLOps

  • Experience of no-SQL database.

  • 2.1+ Degree classification in Computer Science or related discipline (or relevant work experience).
