As an apprentice with Telent, you will learn the installation and commissioning principles and become a qualified Engineer, as part of the apprenticeship programme intake.
What you’ll do:
- Successful installation and commissioning of telecommunications projects Ireland wide
- Learn how to install and test on site equipment in line with the various contract requirements.
- Learn how to work with Copper cable such as termination at MDF, Co-axial cable termination and CAT 5 termination
- Learn all about IP routers and networks
- Learn how to test and commission a vast array of products across multiple technologies and manufacturers
- Work in a multitude of environments such as office, outdoors, data centres and emergency service locations.
- Learn and familiarise with requirements of the different customers and contracts and how to fulfil those needs.
- Complete risk assessments
- Become part of the Northern Ireland field force
Who you are & what to prepare for:
This role involves working at heights, working outdoors, and travelling across different regions across the UK. On some occasions, you will be working in Emergency Services locations and/or working on and around various emergency service vehicles.
We don’t require individuals with experience as we will provide full training in all aspects of the role from how to use tools/equipment to working at heights to ensuring safe working practices. We are looking for candidates with the right attitude, commitment, and desire to learn. You will get a vehicle, mobile phone, laptop, personal protective equipment as part of the role.
Although supported throughout the programme by us at Telent you will need to take ownership of your tasks and personal development. Communication is vital; you will need to be an effective communicator both in writing and verbally. Have a logical approach and enjoy problem solving. Be able to undertake physically demanding work and possess normal colour vision.
The Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 GCSE's Grade 4 or higher (or equivalent qualification). This must include Maths, English and a Science or IT based subject.
- Must be eligible to work in the UK.
- Full UK Driving licence will have to be gained by completion of the programme
- Must be over the age of 18 by September 2026.
- Able to adhere to our Drugs & Alcohol policy and pass a pre-employment Drugs & Alcohol assessment
Programme Specifics:
This apprenticeship is typically 24 months in duration. Starting salary of £17,500 which will increase throughout the duration of the programme. The qualification you gain will be a Level 3 Information Technician. Our chosen training provider Belfast Met will support you in obtaining your qualification. You will be predominantly field based with office visits as required throughout the programme. On completion of your apprenticeship, we hope to offer you a full-time position with Telent where you can continue to pursue your career.
