Hours of Work: Monday to Thursday 07:30hrs - 16:30hrs; Friday 07:30hrs - 12:30hrs

Duties of a CNC Turner Setter/Programmer:

  • Generate NC programs using Mazatrol and other programming languages i.e. Siemens and Fanuc.
  • Safely set and operate a range of machine tools and ancillary equipment necessary for CNC machining, turning, tapping, boring, and grinding.
  • Read and understand technical drawings.
  • Use measuring instruments in metric and/or imperial units necessary for the production of work pieces to the standards outlined by engineering drawings.
  • Select and use the correct cutting tools, feeds, speeds, coolants, and lubricants appropriate to the type of operation, material to be cut, and surface texture requirements.
  • Routine care and cleaning of machines and ancillary equipment.
  • Recognise machining and material defects, appreciate causes, apply remedies, and take preventative action.
  • Inspect all work for surface finish, dimensional accuracy, and overall quality of the finished component.
  • Work in a safe and productive manner as outlined in the company safety policy, with particular attention to safety when operating machine tool equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy place of work, paying particular attention to the storage of chemicals and other dangerous substances.
  • Undertake machine coolant changes as required.
  • Carry out any other duties when required, which could involve working in other departments within the factory as deemed necessary.

Knowledge, Skill and Experience required to be a CNC Turner Setter/Programmer:

  • Experience with programming, setting, and operating Mazak CNC lathes.
  • Be conversant with Mazak (Mazatrol) controls.
  • Be able to read and interpret drawings and tolerances.
  • Be able to use a wide range of different measuring devices and inspection techniques.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of H&S requirements and fundamentals of HR within the workplace.
  • Familiar with Aerospace AS9100D requirements in relation to the CNC turner's role.
