Data Centre Operations H&S Manager will cooperate with the Risk & Compliance department to develop and implement strategic Health and Safety systems within a mission critical environment, complementing the existing company systems and procedures. Implementing the highest industry standards across all sites, compliant with the statutory and regulatory requirements enabling maintenance of ISO accreditations. Working closely with staff and other stakeholders to protect the health, safety and welfare of staff, contractors, visitors and customers by ensuring that all types of risks in the workplace are identified and controlled.
Key tasks
- Ensuring compliance with all the relevant legislation and regulations, including ISO accreditations requirements.
- Prepare change implementation plan, relevant documentation / manuals / process documents and communication plans to implement changes accordingly.
- Implementing, monitoring and advising on strategic Health & Safety Management systems within Operations and the Company.
- Promoting a positive Health & Safety culture within Operations and the wider Company, raising awareness, knowledge and buy-in to the maintenance of a safe and compliant environment and ways of working across all teams and third parties.
- Preparing documentation for the Senior Director DCS, Audit and Risk Committee.
- Carrying out Health and Safety Audit inspection, making recommendations and creating strategies for improvement in line with current legislation and ISO accreditation requirements.
- Reporting on all audit findings, recommendations, and action plans.
- Cooperating with relevant stakeholders to maintain accident statistics, analyse trends, report to the business and keep the record of remedial actions.
- Hands-on and proactive approach in undertaking site inspections and engaging with stakeholders to ensure compliance with safe working practices.
- Investigating incidents and near-misses producing detailed factual reports identifying root causes and recommendations for improvements.
- Create action and implementation plans and follow through to the resolution in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
- Identifying Health and Safety internal and external training needs, design, deliver or arrange internal Health and Safety training and development events as required.
- Managing Health & Safety budget on a monthly basis and ensuring that all resources either internal or outsourced are used effectively to support the business.
Essential Requirements
- NEBOSH Qualification (National General Certificate).
- Lead auditor in Health & Safety.
- Knowledge of current health, safety and legislation and best practices.
- Relevant experience including experience of implementing new and creative solutions to maximise service performance.
- Extensive experience in H&S data analysis and reporting.
- Knowledge of the ISO accreditation process including experience of retaining accreditation certification.
- Ability to manage changing workload and conflicting priorities.
- Experience of communicating effectively both verbally and in writing at senior management / board Member level.
- Experience or knowledge in leading and delivering projects, objectives and services within deadlines and to agreed targets / performance indicators.
