Head of Homepage and App – London

A senior position working alongside the Assistant Editor, editing The Telegraph’s award‑winning Homepage and App. Working across a seven‑day rota, this role will lead the team to ensure The Telegraph’s homepage and app is driving the news agenda and presenting the best content from across the newsroom. The candidate needs to have experience of working in an editor role on a national title with extensive knowledge of digital publishing.

Key Responsibilities

• Overseeing the curation of The Telegraph’s Homepage and App
• Liaising with Heads of Departments and publishers
• Managing a team of homepage and app publishers
• Reacting to breaking news stories
• Growing the Telegraph’s subscriber community with informative and engaging content
• Working alongside the data publishing team to help create more subscriber‑driven content
• Liaising with the community team and off‑platform editors to ensure all Telegraph content aligns

Key Skills

• Strong background in news reporting and homepage editing on a national title
• Ability to make quick, precise decisions, staying calm during stressful breaking stories
• Firm understanding of data‑led publishing and heat‑mapping
• Knowledge of publishing and promoting The Telegraph’s premium content (live blogs, stand‑alone, or video, including appropriate images, graphics and videos)
• Experience in managing a team
• Understanding of why Telegraph subscribers use the app and homepage and what sets the publisher apart from rivals
• Awareness of the news agenda and competitive landscape
• Proficiency with CMS, Trello, Pulse and Chartbeat
