This position resides at the LHR location in United Kingdom. It is a full-time position. This position requires a motivated individual to provide technical engineering for obtaining aviation regulatory approvals of our products on commercial aircraft. This requires leadership to manage the Design Organization Approval (DOA) which has been granted to us by the UK Civil Aviation Authority (UK CAA). In addition, it requires a strong regulatory background to work with the UK-CAA and understand the regulatory requirements for obtaining the approval of our Teledyne products on commercial aircraft. The ideal candidate must have proven experience in certifying avionics appliances and avionics systems.

The candidate will act as a technical certification interface, both internally and externally for the projects supported. The successful candidate will be a leader with excellent communications skills to effectively collaborate with external airline customers, UK-CAA, Quality, and other Engineering disciplines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage and maintain the DOA
  • Maintain the approval status of the UK DOA Handbook
  • Support the UK CAA yearly Audits with relation to the UK-CAA DOA
  • Generate Applications to be submitted to UK-CAA for obtaining STCs of Teledyne products
  • Generate design to obtain UK-CAA STCs
  • Lead design reviews
  • Work with US based Certification department to help with US based FAA STCs
  • Generate US FAA STC minor modification data packages
  • Support design reviews
  • Maintain knowledge and training of latest aviation regulations
  • Obtain and maintain knowledge of Teledyne products to allow design and STCs
  • Requires ability to interpret existing aircraft design and develop electrical, mechanical, and functional interfaces and modifications to safely install and gain UK-CAA approval of Teledyne Controls avionics
  • Generate manufacturing drawings and kit drawings
  • Generate aircraft documentation including Master Data Lists, Weight and Balance, Electrical Load Analysis, Engineering orders and Instructions for Continued Airworthiness
  • Generate compliance and substantiation documents for STC projects such as EWIS and System Safety Analysis
  • Support First of Type (FOT) Installations at domestic and international customer locations
Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or five-to-six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills:

Proficient knowledge of Microsoft office tools: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access; Adobe Acrobat, AutoCAD is required.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of communication, navigation, surveillance, and data/voice recording avionics systems is an asset.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position of 37 hours per week in this UK location. This position may at times require long hours and weekend or holiday work reflecting workload and deadlines. Must maintain regular and punctual attendance. A willingness and availability to work overtime is required on an as-needed basis.
