As a Service Engineer, you are a vital player in maintaining FLIR's world-leading position in thermal sensing technologies. You will be part of the Surveillance Service department comprising technical professionals and engineers. You will handle post‑sale support for high‑tech cameras used primarily for military and rescue purposes, often mounted in different airborne vehicles, but also for maritime and land vehicles. Your responsibilities include on‑site installation, training, and general post‑sales support. You will perform repairs of complex camera electronics and mechanical equipment, oversee diagnoses, troubleshooting, and service. Excellent social skills are required to provide superior customer service.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct high‑level repair, diagnosis, service, support, and upgrades for airborne, land and maritime products.
- Under limited supervision, visit customer and operator sites to carry out field analysis and repairs.
- Prepare lesson plans and perform training of customer personnel and maintain FLIR equipment.
- Analyze product failure and recommend and implement solutions to enhance product reliability.
- Perform ad hoc job duties as required to support overall business needs in engineering, manufacturing, logistics, etc.
- Liaise with customers to keep them informed of the progress of returned equipment.
- Provide effective remote technical support via telephone and email.
- Travel domestically and internationally 30% of the time.
- Use the business ERP system (SAP) to determine repair and maintenance costs.
- Assist in providing after‑hours support to contract customers through participation in the evening and weekend call‑out duty rota.
Job Qualifications
- Excellent customer service attributes.
- Strong mechanical and electrical background with the ability to problem‑solve and troubleshoot complex electronic systems.
- Experience in a technical support or engineering environment.
- Completed a recognized apprenticeship or formal college qualification such as City & Guilds in Electronics.
- Working knowledge of ITAR and associated export control constraints.
- Fluency in English is mandatory.
- Driver's licence essential.
