Raymarine aims to be number one in the world for marine‑based electronics. We have an extensive range of well‑designed reliable products which include Sailing Instruments and Chartplotter displays through to high‑end Sonar and Radar, all using state of the art technology. In the heart of all our products is the electronics. We are seeking an apprentice electronics technician to work alongside our project teams in developing the next generation of products. The successful candidate will support the Engineering Department, working at both a PCB component level and full product assembly, assisting in the smooth development and delivery of new products. They should be able to communicate clearly with all members of the engineering team. Strong organisational skills are important, as is an eye for detail and a good standard of hand‑eye coordination. This job is for you if you have an excellent eye for detail, can multitask on more than one design at a time, like working in a dynamic fast‑moving environment and get satisfaction seeing the completed product in the shops and on boats in and around the water.
Responsibilities:
- You will be working within the engineering department supporting all aspects of product development.
- Printed Circuit Board (PCB) re‑work, predominantly Surface Mount Devices (SMD), utilizing soldering equipment, microscopes and other specialized re‑work tools.
- Ability to use basic test equipment e.g. digital multimeters, bench power supplies and oscilloscopes.
- Ability to understand circuit schematics, so that specific components can be correctly identified when carrying out PCB re‑work, and to use additional tools such as a PCB design platform.
- Assembly and disassembly of Raymarine products, requiring the use of various hand tools (including torque equipment) and the ability to interpret mechanical drawings.
- Product testing, occasionally working in the Environmental Test area, using facilities such as thermal chambers and water ingress test.
Qualifications:
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
- Willing to work with the team in the office 4 days a week.
- Fluent in English, both verbal and written.
