Description
This position requires a strong customs compliance knowledge, both on regulatory and operational level, expertise in development and implementation of the local customs compliance program for the assigned location and understanding of the collaboration and partnership between business functions / stakeholders and customs compliance. The role demands exceptional communication and leadership skills, on functional and people’s level. The Customs Compliance Analyst will work with local Trade Compliance representatives on local, regional and segment levels as well as with Teledyne’s Corporate International Trade Compliance (“CITC”) office.
Individual with this responsibility will also play a key role in driving efforts to create a positive and inclusive work environment and culture across the site.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for ensuring effective import and export compliance processes, and practices at Teledyne FLIR UK in West Malling , in accordance with domestic and foreign trade laws and regulations and Teledyne Technologies corporate customs compliance policies and procedures.
- Implement or support implementation elements of customs compliance program, including import control touchpoints, functional instructions and other documentation; trade data points such as HTS classification, country of origin, Free Trade Agreement (FTA) eligibility, valuation, export requirements, etc.; forwarding agent management; recordkeeping; audits and training.
- Review and / or validate Customs entries for accuracy and compliance with customs regulations and CITC policies and procedures.
- Provide quarterly and yearly reporting, conduct regular customs compliance training for functional groups,
- Conduct periodic audits and self-audits and implement corrective action, as required;
- Assist in trade investigations
Key Skills and Competencies required
- Knowledge of UK & EU Customs Laws and Regulations; previous experience in management of AEO programs or supply chain is desirable.
- Experience in utilizing Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), using proper valuation methods, conducting and documenting classifications, Preferential Origin qualification, evaluating MSS Data, Binding Tariff Information (“BTIs”), and Customs Special Procedures
- Practical knowledge of UK customs systems (CDS) experience in utilizing customs automation tools
- Strong Computer Skills : SAP (Global Trade Services GTS) or other enterprise management systems, Office 365. SharePoint experience beneficial.
- Experience with managing effective relations with 3rd parties (freight forwarders, customs brokers, etc.) and interactions with customs and government authorities
- Experience with collecting and analyzing data and preparing concise and timely reports.
- Knowledge of industry practices.
- Strong communication skills
- Experienced with solving complex problems using collaborative techniques.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field or combination of education and experience.
- Proven direct experience with International Trade Regulations and / or Compliance in High Technology, Defence or Aerospace environment.
