We have an excellent opportunity for a Quality Engineer to grow their career within engineering for energetic devices such as detonators, strip line cables and safety arming units. The Quality Engineer ensures products, processes, and systems comply with stringent regulatory, customer, and industry standards throughout the full lifecycle. The role focuses on risk management, root cause analysis, validation, and continuous improvement, working closely with engineering, manufacturing, and regulatory stakeholders. They play a key role in preventing defects, supporting audits, and maintaining robust documentation to ensure consistent quality and compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Ensuring that all activities are conducted in accordance with company operating procedures.
- Ensuring customer defined quality KPIs are met.
- Leading, conducting and documenting gage R&R, ANOVA MSA activities.
- Providing guidance in the development of procedures to accommodate a changing environment.
- Supporting Operations in achieving an environment of continuous improvement through identifying best practice and championing changes working closely with Process Engineers.
- Leading Quality Root Cause and Corrective actions through Quality methods such as 8D, A3.
- Providing a supporting role for the completion of Fast Responses Board using Fishbone, 3 legged 5 Why.
- Managing department MRB process and reporting of key issues, late MRB tickets.
- Management of the non-conformities related to the responsible area and providing support and guidance to employees on effective corrective actions.
- Producing Right-First-Time data, publishing results and utilising them to direct efforts/focus.
- Liaising with all areas of the business, at all levels, together with suppliers and customers in resolving product quality related issues.
- Conducting layered process audits and where applicable internal audits in order to demonstrate compliance with procedures, processes and other requirements.
- Attending the various business/product reviews to ensure the business is addressing all aspects of the requirement to the satisfaction of the customer.
- Building effective working relationships internally and externally.
- Verification processes to customer standards.
- Risk mitigation and analysis (FMEA PFMEA/DFMEA).
Requirements:
Essential:
- Be willing to undergo UK Government Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance.
- An ability to read and understand written technical operating procedures drawings.
- A high standard of formal education (preferably to HNC level or equivalent) providing the ability to have a technically credible dialogue with the engineering and production teams.
- Quality Assurance experience within a precision manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of AS9100 quality requirements.
- A time served background in an engineering discipline.
- An understanding of problem-solving tools / techniques.
- Fully competent in the use of PCs (Microsoft Office Applications) as detailed technical report generation will be required.
- Excellent communication skills, a methodical approach to working, and proven attention to detail.
- Proven ability to work under pressure to achieve demanding objectives.
Desirable:
- An extensive knowledge of Energetics products and processes, together with an understanding of the Teledyne Energetics Quality Management System.
- Familiarity with auditing techniques, although training will be given if required.
