This is a contract, hybrid Security Engineer role based in the London Area, United Kingdom, with some work-from-home flexibility. The Security Engineer will install, configure, and maintain security and safety systems, including CCTV, access control, fire and intruder alarms, and related networked solutions at client sites.
Responsibilities include:
- Performing system commissioning, diagnosing faults, completing routine maintenance, and ensuring installations comply with relevant standards and accreditation requirements.
- Collaborating with project managers and technical teams to design secure solutions.
- Documenting configurations and providing clear handover and basic training to clients.
- Supporting incident response activities and assisting with security audits.
- Contributing to continuous improvement of security practices and system reliability.
Qualifications:
- Strong foundation in security engineering, including Security Engineering and Information Security skills for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure systems.
- Experience with cybersecurity practices, including Cybersecurity and Application Security, to assess risks, harden systems, and support secure application deployments.
- Proficiency in Network Security, including secure configuration of routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs for IP-based CCTV, access control, and alarm systems.
- Hands-on experience installing and maintaining CCTV, access control, fire alarm, and intruder alarm systems; familiarity with relevant UK standards and industry accreditations is advantageous.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, with the ability to work safely on client sites and follow health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills to interact with clients, document work, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Relevant technical certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Cisco, ISC², or vendor-specific security systems certifications) are beneficial.
- Full UK driving license and ability to travel to client locations within the London area and surrounding regions, as required.
