What will your role be?

You will be working with our customers to support, maintain and optimise Google Cloud Platform (GCP) infrastructure & services. This is a hands-on support based role where you will get great exposure to a wide array of technologies and customers.

You will be working with both virtual servers (Compute Engine) as well as cloud-native architectures, containers and serverless environments, with an emphasis on automation and efficiency. You will also be working with live Telana-developed software, data and AI solutions to support these for our customers.

While this role will be focussed on Google Cloud Platform support, you will also need to occasionally support other Google services, such as Google Workspace, ChromeOS and Google Maps Platform.

In the mid-term we will also look to afford you with opportunities to cross-train to have a familiarity with Microsoft cloud technologies and solutions.

What will you be doing?

  • Supporting, troubleshooting, optimising Google Cloud (approx 80%) and Google Workspace (approx 20%) solutions for our customers.
  • Keeping up to date with Google technologies to ensure you stay abreast of market leading technologies and how we may use them.
  • Resolving incidents (and potential incidents) in line with customer SLAs.
  • Engaging with Google\’s Support teams where additional support or escalation is required.
  • Ensuring our customers receive industry leading levels of service.
  • Working with a talented team and participating in an on call rota to provide 24×7 coverage across the team.
  • Working on a variety of technologies & customers, across multiple industries – no two days are likely to be the same!

This may be you:

  • You are passionate about Google Cloud and broader cloud technologies including Google Workspace and Microsoft Azure.
  • You\’ve got experience of working in a 24×7 technical support environment and working with critical customer production systems.
  • You ideally have experience in at least 3 of the following areas:
  • Cloud platform support on GCP (with Azure experience being an upside)
  • Google Workspace support
  • O/S configuration, patching and automation
  • Infrastructure monitoring (configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting)
  • Automation technologies such as Ansible, Terraform and similar
  • Experience of supporting cloud native or serverless applications
  • Experience of supporting container based services
  • Skills in any of the following areas are not essential, but would be an advantage:
    • Linux support experience
    • Windows support experience
    • ChromeOS experience
    • Networking experience
    • Security operations
    • Vulnerability monitoring & remediation
    • ITIL based processes and procedures
    • Working in an ISO27001 compliant environment
    • Scripting using Bash, PowerShell or Python
    • Exposure to CI/CD pipeline deployments
  • You are strong at problem solving & have an eye for detail. You will need critical thinking to deal with technical solutions and stakeholders.
  • Great communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to work collaboratively.
  • You\’re curious. Desire to continuously learn, improve and understand the technology driving the industry and how it can unlock value for our customers.
  • You are keen to obtain Google certifications and in the future Microsoft certifications, with full support and training from the business.
  • You\’re eligible to obtain Security Clearance.
  • There are many roads leading up to being a Managed Service Cloud Engineer. Not sure you meet 100% of our qualifications? Have an untraditional background? Our team is already a mix of self-taught and formally educated people. Don\’t self-select out!
