  • Perform network capacity planning, performance monitoring, and optimisation.
  • Contribute to technical documentation, network diagrams, and architecture review processes.
  • Support the lifecycle management of network assets including upgrades, patching, and decommissioning.
  • Ensure compliance with MOD security policies, ITSEC standards, and relevant government frameworks.
  • Participate in on-call rota and provide out-of-hours support as required.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience working within MOD or defence/government environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco technologies, ideally including SD-WAN and/or ACI.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification.
  • Strong knowledge of routing and switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, STP, VLANs).
  • Experience with network security principles, firewalls, and secure network architecture.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a secure environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with network automation and scripting (Python, Ansible, or similar).
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes and service management frameworks.
  • Knowledge of cloud networking and hybrid environments.
  • Additional Cisco certifications (CCIE, or specialist tracks) advantageous.

  • 25 days annual leave + bank holidays
  • Professional development & training budget
