They are seeking an Editor, Books - Poland (contractor) to join our Books team. In this role, you will take ownership of storefronts across Poland acting as an all-genre specialist with a deep understanding of what listeners need across every category. You'll curate and manage high-priority editorial programmes, write culturally resonant copy, and develop publisher relationships across your markets. This is a unique opportunity to help launch and shape audio books experience in Southern Europe.
The right candidate has a solid grounding in books editorial and/or bookselling, hands-on experience with digital content, and a deep understanding of the publishing industry with a genuine passion for all things books. You'll be fluent in Polish with a thorough knowledge of the cultures and publishing landscapes of your markets. You'll be organised, a strong communicator, and eager to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment alongside a variety of teams and partners.
What You'll Do:
- Develop and contribute to editorial strategy for books across Poland.
- Take full ownership of the storefronts for your markets, acting as an all-genre specialist with a comprehensive understanding of what listeners need across every category.
- Support, curate, and manage a tight, high-priority set of editorial programmes across your markets.
- Write copy, review, and tag content for both forward-facing editorial programmes and internal communications.
- Develop and maintain publisher relationships across Poland.
- Assess publisher-suggested titles for editorial and wider Books cross-functional activities and propose additional editorial-led promotions grounded in cultural awareness and trendspotting.
- Collaborate closely with the wider Editorial team to align on regional editorial strategy and share cross-market insights.
- Use research, cultural insights, and data analytics to continually enhance the editorial lens for our books platform.
- Work and collaborate with regional cross-functional teams when feasible to highlight and champion books.
- (Optional) Build your public editorial presence where possible, attending book festivals, conventions, cultural events, and publisher previews, and engaging with relevant media opportunities.
What You'll Bring:
- 3-5 years of experience editing, curating, or merchandising content at a digital-first platform, a publishing house, or a major books retailer.
- Fluency in Polish and strong English communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with global teams.
- A deep understanding of Polish publishing landscapes and a passion for connecting listeners with great content.
- An ability to balance commercial recommendations with diverse, representative programming.
- A keen sense of what makes titles appropriate for different situations, and an ability to quickly identify authors, series, and titles to recommend.
- Comfort using both quantitative and qualitative data to inform editorial decisions.
- Experience building and implementing diverse recommendations that reflect a broad range of cultures, people, and perspectives.
- A passion for the evolution of audio and enthusiasm for spoken word content.
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
