Job Title: Solution Architect (Data & AI) Job Description This role offers the opportunity to act as a data-focused Solution Architect within a modern, cloud-based environment, helping to accelerate AI adoption in pension risk transfer and annuities. You will work at the intersection of business, data, AI and engineering, shaping solutions that modernise pricing, risk modelling and buy-in processes. Rather than producing designs in isolation, you will collaborate closely with development squads, product teams and business stakeholders to define, refine and deliver AI-enabled solutions on Microsoft Azure and Databricks.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with development squads, product teams and business stakeholders to shape data and AI solutions that support pension risk transfer and annuities activities. Define solution architectures that leverage Microsoft Azure, Databricks and modern data platforms to support pricing, risk modelling and buy-in processes. Work in an iterative, agile manner, remaining closely engaged with engineering teams throughout delivery rather than handing off designs.

Provide clear architectural direction, patterns and guidance that enable engineering teams to build scalable, robust and secure solutions. Help modernise parts of the Bulk Purchase Annuities (BPA) lifecycle, including processes that are currently heavily manual. Bridge business requirements and technical implementation, ensuring solutions meet the needs of actuarial, pricing and risk modelling stakeholders.

Utilise an existing industry-standard data model and AI tooling, including Genie, to design and evolve data-driven and AI-enabled capabilities. Contribute to the evolution of the operating model to better support agile, collaborative and iterative architecture practices. Advise on how to apply AI and machine learning capabilities to business processes, particularly within pricing and risk assessment domains.

Support continuous improvement of data and AI foundations, helping to enhance the organisation's modern data platform on Azure and Databricks. Essential Skills Strong background in Solution Architecture, with a focus on data-centric and AI-enabled solutions. Experience working in Azure-based environments, including designing and guiding solutions on Microsoft Azure. Good understanding of Databricks and modern data platform concepts, including data models and analytics tooling.

Experience working within agile, iterative delivery teams, collaborating closely with development squads and product stakeholders. Ability to bridge business requirements and engineering delivery, translating complex business needs into practical technical solutions. Comfort operating in a hands-on, delivery-focused architectural role at the intersection of business, data, AI and engineering. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience within Life & Pensions, particularly annuities, is highly desirable.

Exposure to Bulk Purchase Annuities (BPA) and related business processes is an advantage. Understanding of actuarial, pricing or risk modelling domains, including platforms and data models used in these areas. Experience applying AI or machine learning capabilities to business processes, especially in pricing, risk assessment or modelling. Familiarity with Defined Benefit pension schemes and pension risk transfer concepts. Experience working with or designing pricing models and industry-standard data models.
