We are seeking an actively SC cleared Solution Architect with a strong expertise in Optel transmission and a solid understanding of VOIP to support a large-scale transformation programme. This role involves close collaboration across network, transmission, and Cisco environments, and requires travel.
Responsibilities
- Act as the Solution Architect for Optel transmission within a complex, multi‑vendor environment.
- Design and validate solutions across Optel transmission technologies, including PDH and SDH.
- Support the Traveller platform, ensuring effective integration with Cisco networking.
- Ensure appropriate segregation of circuits, placing required services onto dedicated MPLS networks.
- Provide architectural input to support VOIP services with a high‑level awareness.
- Work closely with Cisco technologies, including MPLS and Core Manager Express.
- Produce and review high‑level and low‑level design documentation.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience as a Solution Architect in large‑scale network or transmission projects.
- Converting the DNO/TO trunks at the regional telephony nodes so that they present to the central system as VOIP.
- Strong background in Optel transmission networks.
- Hands‑on or architectural experience with PDH/SDH.
- Solid understanding of Cisco networking, particularly MPLS.
- Experience working in environments where separate circuits must be isolated onto their own MPLS networks.
- VOIP awareness sufficient to ensure compatibility and architectural alignment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience operating in large, regulated infrastructure environments is highly desirable.
