Our client, a leading gaming company is looking to hire a Game Balance Specialist to help craft a new, unannounced game. We are looking for a game balance specialist to join their team and take responsibility for testing the balancing, tuning, and player-facing experience of various gameplay and meta features for different player cohorts across the player lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Playtest in-development core gameplay and meta features to provide feedback on how target player cohorts will engage with the same.
- Collaborate with meta designers, game mode designers, combat designers, and other departments to gauge alignment of features to stated design goals, and suggest improvements to better align these features with player preferences and expectations.
- Collaborate with meta designers and product managers to gauge the value and satisfaction players of different spend profiles attain from various product offerings.
- Collaborate with UX research, community and analytics teams to inform feedback analysis and derive insights.
- Provide feedback in written documentation, images/clips from the game, and verbally in meetings to designers, PMs and producers to inform design decisions.
Minimum Requirements
- Highly experienced player of live-service games of various genres.
- Ability to clearly break down and explain designs, pros and cons of characters, maps, modes, gameplay customizations, balancing of progression features, events, etc.
- Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and succinctly through documentation, presentations, and visual tools.
- Comfortable working with designers and product managers from a wide range of backgrounds.
- Excels in a collaborative and flexible environment where your role will evolve in line with the ongoing plans for development.
Contract Details
- This will be an initial 12 month contract, that could extend.

- 12 Month Contract
- £160 per day (equivalent to £35,000)
- Hybrid working - 2-3 days a week in office
- Location: London, SOHO
