Engineering lead
We are looking for a technically strong Engineering Lead to help shape, build and deliver engineering solutions across a critical platform engineering function. This role is ideal for a Senior Engineer, Principal Engineer or Lead Software Engineer looking to take the next step in leadership while remaining close to technology and engineering delivery. We are looking for someone who combines strong technical credibility with the ability to lead, influence and develop engineering teams. The successful candidate will help drive engineering excellence, challenge assumptions, improve standards, and foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture. This is not a Product Owner, Delivery Manager or Programme Management role. We are looking for a hands-on engineering leader who can work closely with technical teams, challenge engineering decisions, and help design and deliver robust, scalable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and support a team of engineers across a complex technology estate.
Build a strong engineering culture focused on quality, accountability and continuous improvement.
Take requirements and business problems and translate them into practical engineering solutions.
Challenge technical decisions and ensure solutions are fit for purpose, scalable and maintainable.
Drive engineering excellence through automation, observability, resilience and modern software engineering practices.
Collaborate with engineering teams across multiple locations including the UK, India, Poland and Hong Kong.
Coach, mentor and develop engineers, helping build future technical leaders.
Support platform modernisation and automation initiatives.
Contribute to technical strategy, architecture discussions and engineering governance.
Improve operational resilience, monitoring, observability and platform performance.
Promote a "build not buy" mindset where appropriate, leveraging automation and open-source technologies.

Experience
Proven Experience as a: o Principal Engineer o Engineering Lead o Lead Software Engineer o Senior Lead Engineer o Engineering Manager (with hands-on technical involvement)
Strong software engineering background with Experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale solutions.
Experience leading and developing engineering teams.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
Experience working within large-scale, regulated environments.
A track record of delivering engineering transformation, modernisation or cloud migration initiatives.
