AWS Solutions Architect - Data Modernisation in England

Overview

The AWS Solution Architect is a key member of the Presales Solutions team responsible for providing business leadership and strategic technical direction for customers. They work to build and maintain broad relationships internally and externally within AWS, coach and guide TEKsystems Global Services Sales, Practice & Delivery on strategy and AWS solutions, and advise a team of extended partners throughout the sales process. They are responsible for solutioning and implementing a broad strategy for earning customer acceptance and service implementation. The AWS Solution Architect drives identifying, scoping, and creating solutions/proposals that encompass technical approach, best practice, implementation, team structure, pricing and contracts. They collaborate with TEKsystems Global Services and AWS partners to support customer interests and advocate for their customer while balancing TEKsystems business needs. The AWS Solution Architect demonstrates strategic, long-term thinking about the needs of global businesses and their financial implications. They have a deep understanding of the digital transformation of complex legacy IT environments to new native digital environments, focusing on Data Modernisation and AI/ML to solve enterprise IT challenges. Familiarity with IoT, DevOps, and Application Modernization is advantageous. A broad understanding of the AWS ecosystem and partner requirements helps them stand out among peers. The AWS Solution Architect is seen as a subject matter expert (SME) and may deliver technical webinars, speak at public events, and engage internally with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Solution and implement a broad strategy for earning customer acceptance and service implementation.
• Identify, scope, and create solutions/proposals including technical approach, implementation plans, team structure, pricing, and contracts.
• Collaborate with TEKsystems Global Services, AWS partners, and internal stakeholders to support customer interests and advocate for the customer while balancing business needs.
• Deliver strategic direction and guidance across the sales process and contribute to the development of data modernization and AI/ML initiatives.
• Present technical concepts and solutions to customers and internal teams, including webinars and public speaking when required.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
• Minimum 8+ years’ experience in Information Technology and/or Professional Services; 12+ years preferred.
• Minimum 5+ years’ hands-on experience in a professional services organization; 5+ years in client-facing Presales/Solution Architect roles interfacing with business and technology executives.
• Minimum 5+ years’ hands-on experience with AWS Cloud (IAaS, PaaS, SaaS) and architecture models.
• Proven experience designing and deploying data solutions and data architectures on AWS, with hands-on expertise in EC2, S3, RDS, Redshift, Glue, Lambda, Athena, and Kinesis.
• Desirable: experience architecting and implementing data pipelines, data lakes, and data warehousing solutions optimized for GenAI workloads.
• Strong knowledge of data modelling, ETL processes, SQL, and scripting languages such as Python.
• Experience with Big Data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
• Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face, etc.).
• Experience implementing security standards and data governance policies within AWS environments, including encryption, access controls, and monitoring.
• Understanding of MLOps and DevOps practices and infrastructure as code (e.g., CloudFormation, Terraform).
• Certifications: valid AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional or AWS Data Analytics certification preferred.

Technical Leadership

• Guide development teams in adopting best practices for AWS data architectures, ensuring solutions are robust, compliant, and cost-effective.
• Produce detailed architectural documentation, data flow diagrams, and operational guides for implemented solutions.
• Stay abreast of AWS innovations and emerging data and GenAI technologies, recommending enhancements to existing architectures.
• Demonstrated experience in developing Data Migration-Modernization solutions and To-Be architectures, using AWS native services/tools and ISV tools across multiple clients and industry verticals (e.g., BFSI, HCLS, TMEG, Retail).
• Experience developing effort/cost estimates, service pricing, writing statements of work, and contributing to client contractual agreements.
• Proven experience with the AWS Partner ecosystem and enabling collaboration with AWS SAs for the benefit of the organization and customers.
• Experience working with enterprise clients across the UK and Mainland Europe.

• Strong technical understanding to build credibility with IT and Business Leadership, with high attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• 2-3 years' experience in developing AWS Data Migration-Modernization practice.
• Occasional travel may be required.
