This role offers an experienced Network Engineer the opportunity to work onsite with our Service Provider client, supporting the delivery of a series of critical network projects. You will support with implementing and supporting high-capacity connectivity, modernising communications, and helping establish secure, reliable networks into our clients' Infrastructure & Cloud platforms. This is a rolling 3 month contract to work on-site in the Dundee office and will be INSIDE IR35.
Responsibilities
- Deliver onsite network engineering support and project implementation.
- Plan, configure and implement a new 20Gb network connection, ensuring performance, resilience and security requirements are met.
- Evaluate existing communications rooms, documenting current infrastructure, risks and constraints.
- Support upgrades and replacements, including equipment layout, cabling, power and environmental considerations.
- Support future network expansion projects, including increased connectivity capacity and resilience.
- Contribute to the deployment of approximately 2,000 new Cisco wireless access points, including configuration, testing and optimisation.
- Troubleshoot network, telephony and data centre issues as they arise during project delivery.
- Follow established change control and governance processes to ensure safe and controlled implementation of network changes.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience as a Network Engineer delivering onsite network projects.
- Strong hands-on experience with Cisco networking technologies, including switching, routing and wireless.
- Practical experience implementing high-capacity connections, such as 10Gb/20Gb links.
- Experience working with data centre networking, including core, distribution and access layers.
- Experience working with enterprise telephony or converged voice and data networks.
- Ability to evaluate existing network environments and propose appropriate upgrade or replacement solutions.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across network infrastructure.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
