We are seeking a technically capable Design Systems Documentation Content Manager to support a large, enterprise design systems team. This contractor will manage and publish documentation content written in Markdown and React-based formats, working closely with designers and engineers to ensure high-quality, accurate documentation is consistently delivered through our documentation site. This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable operating in a GitHub-driven documentation workflow and understands how design system documentation supports both designers and developers.
Responsibilities:
- Documentation Publishing & Maintenance
- Upload, format, and publish documentation written in Markdown and React (MDX or similar)
- Manage content updates across a React-based documentation site (e.g., component docs, guidelines, usage examples)
- Ensure documentation structure, navigation, and file organization follow established standards
- Maintain documentation hygiene, including link validation, formatting consistency, and deprecated content cleanup
- GitHub & Workflow Management
- Work within GitHub repositories to manage documentation files
- Create and update branches, commits, and pull requests for documentation changes
- Review incoming documentation contributions for completeness and formatting before publication
- Coordinate documentation merges aligned with release cycles
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with design ops, designers and engineers to intake documentation content and prepare it for publishing
- Clarify requirements and resolve gaps in submitted content (missing sections, broken examples, formatting issues)
- Act as the operational owner for documentation delivery within the design systems team

- Apply and enforce documentation standards, templates, and contribution guidelines
