This role focuses on deploying and supporting network infrastructure across multiple customer sites, with a particular emphasis on installing, configuring and testing Cisco access layer Switches while safely decommissioning Legacy equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Install Cisco access layer Switches at various end customer sites across Northern Ireland in line with agreed technical standards and project plans.
  • Remove and decommission redundant Huawei access layer Switches from communications cabinets, ensuring safe handling and secure disposal of equipment.
  • Apply pre-configured IOS images to new Switches and verify that configurations load correctly and operate as intended.
  • Securely remove all configurations and sensitive data from decommissioned equipment in accordance with security and governance requirements.
  • Carry out thorough post-installation testing to confirm connectivity for cabinets, client devices, wireless access points, printers, VoIP handsets and interactive panels.
  • Work under the guidance and direction of the Technical Lead Engineer, collaborating closely with the existing communications team to deliver successful deployments.
  • Liaise with on-site stakeholders to minimise disruption, provide clear updates on progress and ensure that any issues are resolved promptly.
