The Role
The Principal Solution Engineer plays a critical role in supporting the sales organisation by providing technical expertise throughout the customer buying journey. Working closely with both prospective clients and the sales team, you will demonstrate how the technology can solve complex business challenges and deliver measurable value. This position involves analysing customer requirements, aligning those needs with platform capabilities, and clearly communicating the unique benefits compared with other solutions in the market. The role requires a strong understanding of SaaS billing, quote-to-cash processes, integrations, and system architecture.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Enterprise Sales team to shape sales strategies and support active opportunities.
- Configure and deliver tailored product demonstrations that address the specific needs of prospective customers.
- Clearly communicate the values and differentiate the solution from competitors.
- Develop deep expertise in the software and product, including platform functionality, integrations, infrastructure, and security.
- Contribute to responses for RFI and RFP requests.
- Work closely with Product Management to relay customer feedback and market insights that inform product development.
- Support the growth of the team by assisting in recruiting and interviewing new Solution Engineering candidates.
Skills & Experience
- At least 5 - 10 years of experience in a Solution Engineering or pre-sales role within a high-growth SaaS organisation selling to commercial or enterprise customers.
- Strong consultative approach with excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Knowledge of finance operations, revenue recognition principles, billing, and quote-to-cash workflows.
- Familiarity with relational databases, web technologies, and API-based integrations.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with strong opportunities for career progression.
- Willingness to travel when required.
