Mission:
We are seeking a proactive and technically strong Tax Specialist to lead our tax function worldwide. You will manage direct and indirect tax compliance, optimize tax planning, and ensure alignment with tax regulations. This is a hands-on role with strategic visibility, ideal for someone looking to build or scale an internal tax function in a high-growth environment.

What will be your responsibilities:
Compliance & Reporting
- Manage all aspects of corporate tax including review of tax returns, estimated payments, and statutory filings;
- Oversee VAT (IVA) compliance;
- Coordinate the preparation of annual tax provisions (IFRS and/or local GAAP) in partnership with accounting and auditors;
- Ensure compliance with tax obligations for payroll-related taxes.
Tax Strategy & Planning
- Lead tax initiatives (e.g., SIFIDE, RFAI, Patent Box);
- Support strategic initiatives, including cross-border structuring, transfer pricing, and permanent establishment risk;
- Stay informed on changes in Portuguese, UK and EU tax legislation, advising leadership on their impact;
- Liaise with Tax Authorities and manage any audits or tax inspections.
Risk Management & Process Improvement
- Establish and document internal tax controls and procedures;
- Manage tax calendar, filing deadlines, and ensure timely, accurate submissions;
- Implement and maintain tax compliance tools and coordinate with external advisors where necessary.
Profile and Requirements:
- 5–8+ years of experience in Portuguese tax, with a strong mix of public accounting (e.g., Big 4) and in-house corporate experience;
- In-depth knowledge of IRC, IVA, and EU VAT directives, and other applicable tax rules in Portugal;
- Familiarity with international tax principles, OECD guidelines, and transfer pricing;
- Experience with tax audits and liaising with local tax authorities;
- Strong accounting knowledge (SNC, IFRS is a plus);
- Proficient in Excel and tax reporting tools;
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Law;
- Language Requirements: Advanced proficiency in Portuguese and English, with proven fluency at the C2 level in both languages.
