Teign Housing is a successful social landlord employing over 100 ambitious, committed people, responsible for managing more than 4000 homes across South Devon. Joining a closely-knit team responsible for enhancing the lives of our sheltered housing tenants, you will do whatever it takes to promote their wellbeing and maximise their independence, soon becoming a close friend and mentor.

About the Independence and Wellbeing Advisor role: Operating on your own initiative, you will take on a varied caseload of residents, ranging from older people to those with challenging social, mental and physical issues. From organising communal activities and outings to conducting health and safety inspections, inducting new tenants and overseeing property maintenance and improvements, you will enjoy plenty of variety and all the satisfaction of helping our residents enjoy life to the full. You will deliver a person-centred service working with tenants on their personal goal plans. Equally important, you will become an expert on best practice in meeting our most vulnerable tenants' needs and will proactively drive continuous improvement across the organisation, giving you a very high profile and plenty of scope to make your mark on everything we do.

Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week.

About you: Experienced in working with older people, you will be compassionate, self-motivated and adept at building productive relationships. You should be effective under pressure, capable of responding rapidly to emergencies and extremely organised and methodical. You will be capable of giving residents the guidance they need on maintaining their tenancies and protecting their health. Up-to-date knowledge of housing benefits would be very useful, as would a relevant professional qualification, but it’s your empathy and enthusiasm that will matter most.
