This is an exciting newly created role, established as Teign Housing and Templer HomeBuild come together through our Home Team 27 programme to form One Team as Teign Homes. Its a great opportunity to join us at an important time of change and help shape how health and safety is managed as our services and ways of working evolve. As our Health and Safety Advisor (Construction), youll provide specialist construction health and safety advice, assurance and support across Property Services. Working closely with managers, surveyors, supervisors, trade teams and contractors, youll help ensure health and safety arrangements are effective, consistent and proportionate across a wide range of activities. Using your professional judgement and construction health and safety expertise, youll provide practical, solution-focused advice, helping managers understand and manage risk effectively and supporting positive health and safety outcomes. Contract and hours: Permanent, full-time (37 hours per week). About You As our ideal candidate, you will hold a NEBOSH Construction Certificate, or an equivalent construction health and safety qualification, or have an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education. You should also hold an IOSH membership at a minimum of TechIOSH level, possess a full UK driving licence, and demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional and personal development. You will have a background working within operational environments, including construction, property maintenance, social housing and health and safety, and be confident carrying out inspections, audits, assurance activities and incident investigations independently, while managing competing priorities with minimal supervision. You should also have practical experience supporting contractor management, reviewing RAMS, Construction Phase Plans and competence information, and applying CDM Regulations 2015 and wider health and safety legislation, as well as experience supporting COSHH arrangements and using health and safety management systems and digital tools to monitor, record and report safety information effectively. You will be analytical and evidence-based, with strong skills in inspections, audits, investigations and assurance, using professional judgement to identify risks, root causes and opportunities for improvement. Organised, collaborative and outcomes-focused, you will have the ability to manage competing priorities while working independently.
