Our Mental Health Team at HMP Deerbolt is seeking a dedicated Clinical Lead (Band 6) to guide and inspire our service. As a Clinical Lead, you will be at the heart of our multi-disciplinary team, using your expertise to assess, plan, and deliver specialist interventions while supporting and supervising junior staff. Main duties of the job
  • Provide strong clinical leadership and expert mental health care.
  • Responsible for the comprehensive assessment, formulation, and delivery of specialist interventions for a diverse patient caseload.
  • Provide professional supervision, guidance, and support to junior members of the nursing team, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
  • Act as a senior clinical point of contact, coordinating care and making sound decisions in a complex environment.
  • Contribute to the development of the service and work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the highest standards of safe, effective, and compassionate care are consistently delivered.
Person Specification
  • A valid professional registration as a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with the NMC.
  • Substantial post-registration experience working in a mental health setting.
  • Proven experience in a senior or leadership capacity (e.g., Band 6 or equivalent), including supervising others.
  • Experience in conducting complex risk assessments and formulating management plans.
  • The ability to work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
  • A non-judgmental and resilient approach to working with a complex patient population.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain HM Prison and Probation Service security clearance is a mandatory and non-negotiable condition for this role.
  • Previous experience working within a forensic, secure, or prison mental health service.
