Position

Role: Reporter at TEGNA

Location: Bangor, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom

Notice: TEGNA is currently recruiting for a Multi‑Skilled Journalist at WLBZ‑TV Bangor, the NBC TEGNA affiliate, requiring a current driver’s license and the ability to operate a news gathering vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Perform authoritative, compelling live shots in developing or breaking news situations
  • Develop story ideas
  • Mine the community to find sources who will keep you informed about events and ideas in their areas of expertise
  • Identify, write and produce stories within a specific framework
  • Research facts and credibility
  • Maintain and develop sources for next‑level reporting
  • Shoot, write, produce and edit on‑air and online content within deadlines
  • Use creative production techniques such as graphics and new forms of media (viewer pictures, webcam interviews, etc.) to enhance stories
  • Use social media and digital tools to research, discover and distribute content
  • Attend editorial meetings and offer story ideas daily
  • Write in an exciting, captivating, authentic manner

Requirements

  • 1–3 years reporting experience preferred
  • Solid news judgment, strong communication skills, creativity, and ethical decision‑making skills
  • Strong writing, production, and tease‑writing abilities
  • ENPS, EDIUS, and Axis graphics experience preferred
  • Organized with the ability to work under constant deadlines
  • Ability to calmly handle live breaking news situations and changing events
  • Proven social and digital content creation ability
  • Knowledge of Bangor a plus
