Role: Reporter at TEGNA
Location: Bangor, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom
Notice: TEGNA is currently recruiting for a Multi‑Skilled Journalist at WLBZ‑TV Bangor, the NBC TEGNA affiliate, requiring a current driver’s license and the ability to operate a news gathering vehicle.
Responsibilities
- Perform authoritative, compelling live shots in developing or breaking news situations
- Develop story ideas
- Mine the community to find sources who will keep you informed about events and ideas in their areas of expertise
- Identify, write and produce stories within a specific framework
- Research facts and credibility
- Maintain and develop sources for next‑level reporting
- Shoot, write, produce and edit on‑air and online content within deadlines
- Use creative production techniques such as graphics and new forms of media (viewer pictures, webcam interviews, etc.) to enhance stories
- Use social media and digital tools to research, discover and distribute content
- Attend editorial meetings and offer story ideas daily
- Write in an exciting, captivating, authentic manner
Requirements
- 1–3 years reporting experience preferred
- Solid news judgment, strong communication skills, creativity, and ethical decision‑making skills
- Strong writing, production, and tease‑writing abilities
- ENPS, EDIUS, and Axis graphics experience preferred
- Organized with the ability to work under constant deadlines
- Ability to calmly handle live breaking news situations and changing events
- Proven social and digital content creation ability
- Knowledge of Bangor a plus
