Overview
Teesside University is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in English and Creative Writing in the School of Arts and Creative Industries on a fixed-term contract for 12 months from January 2026.
Responsibilities
- Deliver teaching across English and Creative Writing provisions at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Contribute to curriculum development and undertake research, development and/or scholarship to enhance teaching.
- Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders to contribute to marketing, recruitment and enhancement of teaching.
- Communicate highly complex information clearly to a range of audiences, with highly developed oral and written communication skills.
Qualifications
- First degree in a relevant discipline or an equivalent professional qualification or significant practical work experience.
- PhD or equivalent doctoral qualification in English Literature, Creative Writing and/or aligned disciplines.
- Ability to teach across the English and Creative Writing provision at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; areas of specialism might include colonial and postcolonial literature, genre writing, contemporary debates in creative writing, and careers and employability.

- Full-time position (37 hours per week); job share will be considered (state on application).
- Location: Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire; on-site only.
- Salary: £36,636 to £42,254 per year.
