Teespro recruiting are working in partnership with a leading Teesside business to source a Panel Department Manager to lead a busy and growing panel manufacturing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in the design and manufacture of electrical control panels, MCCs and switchboards who has progressed into a supervisory or management role and is looking to take the next step in their career.

As Panel Department Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the panel department, managing a small team of 2–3 electricians and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards. The role will also involve customer interaction, preparing quotations and supporting business development activities.

Key Responsibilities of a Panel Manager:

  • Managing and developing a team of panel builders/electricians.
  • Planning and coordinating workloads to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Maintaining high standards of quality, safety and workmanship.
  • Liaising with customers to understand requirements and provide technical support.
  • Preparing quotations and cost estimates for new and existing works.
  • Supporting sales activities and maintaining strong customer relationships.
  • Monitoring department performance and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Working closely with other departments to ensure successful project delivery.

Ideal background of a Panel Workshop Manager / Wireman:

  • Previous hands-on experience in the manufacture of electrical control panels, MCCs, switchboards or similar systems.
  • Experience in a supervisory, team leader or management position.
  • Customer-facing experience with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
  • Experience preparing quotations and pricing works.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Knowledge of relevant electrical standards and industry best practices.
  • Experience working within process and industrial sectors.
  • Previous involvement in sales or business development activities.
