Our client is a leading Engineering, Procurement and Construction contractor within the marine and renewable energy engineering sector. Due to business expansion they are looking to add an experienced Engineer (Lifting Specialist) to their team in Middlesbrough.

In the position of Engineer (Lifting Specialist), you are responsible for transportation and lifting operations for components used in the Offshore Renewable Energy sector. You are involved in the creation of lifting and rigging plans and lifting arrangements including their accompanying methods and safe systems of work. As part of the lifting team, you will be supporting a variety of projects during their planning and execution phases, as well as supporting our operations team and clients in the growing Operations and Maintenance sector of offshore wind.

The responsibilities of a Engineer (Lifting Specialist):

  • Review rigging calculations and drawings.
  • Appointed person in the creation and approval of lifting and rigging plans.
  • Construct safe systems of work such as method statements and risk assessments.
  • Selection of suitable rigging equipment.
  • Involvement in the development of lifting tools.
  • Interfacing with clients & MWS with regards to lifting and rigging.
  • Review and/or witness Factory Acceptance Tests / load tests of lifting and rigging equipment.
  • On site presence for witnessing lifts and for immediate support when needed.
  • Manage the clients' rigging equipment stock.

Essentials skills and experience for a Engineer (Lifting Specialist):

  • Extensive lifting experience (preferably engineered lifts).
  • A technical education (preferably Bachelor degree), ideally in Mechanical, Civil or Offshore Engineering.
  • An understanding of offshore lifting.
  • Proven experience using AutoCAD.
  • Preferably hold one of the following certifications: Appointed Person for Lifting Operations (CPCS Blue Card) or LOLER Competent Person certificate.
