About the role

As part of our continued growth and ambitious expansion plans, we are seeking an experienced Senior Associate, Legal Director or Partner to lead and grow our Private Client offering from our newly established Saffron Walden office.

This is a rare opportunity for an entrepreneurial and commercially minded Private Client specialist to shape and develop a key strategic area of the business. You will take the lead in building our presence in the local market, strengthening client relationships, growing the team and establishing a market-leading Private Client practice in the region.

Working closely with senior leadership, you will enjoy significant autonomy and support to drive growth, develop talent and contribute to the long-term success of the firm.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Private Client practice in Saffron Walden, establishing a strong market presence and reputation.
  • Manage a diverse caseload of complex Private Client matters, including:
    • Wills and estate planning
    • Trusts and succession planning
    • Tax planning
    • Powers of Attorney
    • Estate and trust administration
  • Deliver exceptional client service to high-net-worth individuals, families, trustees, business owners and other private clients.
  • Develop and implement strategic growth plans to expand the practice and increase market share.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with clients, professional referrers and local networks.
  • Act as a trusted adviser and ambassador for Tees within the community and wider professional market.
  • Mentor, support and develop team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
  • Contribute to wider business development initiatives and firmwide strategic objectives.
  • Play an active role in recruitment, talent development and succession planning.

What we're looking for

  • Qualification as a Solicitor in England and Wales with significant experience in Private Client law.
  • Experience operating at Senior Associate, Legal Director or Partner level, or readiness to step into a senior leadership role.
  • Strong technical expertise across the full range of Private Client matters.
  • A proven ability to manage complex and high-value client work.
  • Demonstrable experience leading, mentoring and developing successful teams.
  • A commercial and strategic mindset, with the ability to identify growth opportunities and deliver practical client solutions.
  • A strong track record of business development and relationship management.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • STEP qualification, or a commitment to working towards it, would be advantageous.
