Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of B5 Occupational Therapist in the adult eating disorders intensive day service. The service is based at Imperial Avenue in Norton. The service is open between 8am and 6pm Monday – Friday with shift patterns of 8am-4pm or 10am-6pm; opening times are to be reviewed. The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering high quality patient-focused care in a community setting. The role involves supporting people in their own homes and delivering services to promote recovery and wellbeing for individuals with Anorexia Nervosa.

The post holder will manage a caseload independently, assessing occupational performance and delivering specialist occupational interventions, while adhering to Trust Values at all times. Occupation-focused assessments and interventions will be delivered as part of a dynamic service delivery model that emphasises collaborative working across professional groups and recognises their unique skills. There is an additional focus on delivering high quality evidence-based services that support recovery, occupational formulation and occupational engagement. Delivery of occupational therapy 1:1 and in groups is required.

To be responsible for receiving requests for occupational therapy, triaging and prioritising these, completing evidence-based assessments and interventions to address key occupational areas of self-care, productivity and leisure. To use client-centred approaches to co-produce negotiated occupational goals and evaluate these with service users collaboratively. To participate in clinical/professional and management supervision. To contribute to multi-disciplinary team working, service improvement and quality initiatives. To use the Trust electronic patient record system and abide by all Trust policies and procedures. To respond flexibly and creatively to challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and triage requests for occupational therapy; prioritise and deliver evidence-based assessments and interventions addressing self-care, productivity and leisure.
  • Conduct client-centred occupational assessments and develop negotiated goals with service users; evaluate progress collaboratively.
  • Deliver OT services 1:1 and in group formats within a dynamic, collaborative service delivery model.
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide high quality, patient-focused care in a community setting.
  • Maintain documentation in the Trust electronic patient record system and comply with Trust policies and procedures.
  • Engage in supervision (clinical/professional and management) and contribute to service improvement and quality initiatives.
  • Be flexible and creative in responding to challenges and changing needs.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Occupational Therapist at Band 5 level with eligibility to work in the NHS; applicants with pending registration may be considered.
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient-focused care, with dynamic, resilient, and collaborative working skills.
  • Willingness to participate in training and CPD; supervision systems are in place and monitored through appraisal.
  • Possession of or eligibility for sponsorship for a Health and Care Worker or Skilled Worker visa (subject to eligibility); review visa guidance as linked in the job posting.
