We're looking for a talented Software Engineer with strong Laravel, PHP and modern JavaScript framework experience (particularly Vue.js) to help develop and evolve our cloud-based print-on-demand platform. What You'll Be Doing

  • Design, develop, and maintain software features and functionalities using core programming languages like PHP, Laravel, SQL, JavaScript, Vue.js, HTML, and CSS.
  • Collaborate with the team to identify requirements, design solutions, and ensure the delivery of high-quality software within project timelines.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of the software development lifecycle for efficiency and effectiveness, participating actively in code reviews and technical scrums.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the platform’s architecture, contributing to scalability and optimising performance.
  • Identify, debug, and resolve software bugs and issues, ensuring the stability and reliability of the software.
  • Share knowledge and provide mentorship to trainees and apprentices, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to cloud infrastructure design and troubleshooting, learning about reliability, security, and cost-awareness.
  • Use the latest agentic AI coding tools effectively in day-to-day development.

What We're Looking For

  • Essential
  • Commercial experience developing applications with PHP and Laravel.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
  • Experience working with HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
  • Understanding of software engineering best practices, including version control, testing and code reviews.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a development team.
  • A genuine passion for building high-quality software and continually improving your skills.
  • Desirable
  • Experience building modern web applications using Vue.js or another contemporary JavaScript framework.
  • Experience working in agile development environments.
  • Exposure to AI-assisted software development tools.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent commercial experience).
  • Mathematics and Computer Science qualifications are advantageous.

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year's commercial experience as a Software Engineer, or 2+ years as a Trainee Software Engineer with demonstrable commercial Laravel/PHP development experience.
