Class Teacher (Key Stage 2) 0.5 FTE Fixed-Term Contract (1 Year) Initially Full-Time until 16 October 2026 (Maternity Cover)

Salary: MPS/UPS (Dependent on Experience)

Location: South Cumbria

We are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive primary school in South Cumbria for an enthusiastic and committed Key Stage 2 Class Teacher to join their team from September 2026. This is a fixed-term position for one academic year, working 0.5 FTE for the majority of the contract. The successful candidate will initially work full-time from 1 September to 16 October 2026 to provide maternity cover before moving to the part-time arrangement. The role will involve teaching a mixed Year 4/5 class and offers an exciting opportunity to become part of a supportive school community where children are encouraged to thrive both academically and personally.

The Role

  • Teach a mixed Year 4/5 Key Stage 2 class.
  • Plan and deliver engaging, creative and challenging lessons.
  • Assess, monitor and support pupil progress to ensure all children achieve their potential.
  • Create a positive, inclusive and stimulating learning environment.
  • Establish high expectations for behaviour, learning and achievement.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents and support staff.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school community.

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
